Scrap 'til Midnights and All Day Crops

Need some crafting time?

We have a Scrap 'til Midnight scheduled for Friday, November 15 with an All Day Crop to follow on Saturday, November 16.  Sign up for the Friday and Saturday crops and leave your stuff where you sat and you can pick up where you left off in the morning.  If you only have one free day, you can pick the Friday Crop or the Saturday Crop to get your crafty projects done.

We also have another All Day Crop date for you on Saturday, November 23.

Garage Days Collection

New arrival....well, from late last week anyway.  We had a LOT going on this past week.  Craft Sale yesterday, plus the 7th anniversary of Leann's ownership of Picture This...there was a lot going on.  We were so glad to see so many people stop by yesterday to shop and check out the craft sale in the classroom.  It was a fabulous day.

Above we have the Kasier Craft "Garage Days Collection" in the store along with a bunch of other fun new papers and embellishments.  Come check it out!

Craft Fair

November 2nd is the date set for the Craft Fair in the classroom at Picture This

Want to be a vendor?  Are you a crafter of handmade goods and want to sell them to the public?  Goods can be handmade cards, scrapbook pages, albums, knitted items, soaps, painted items, jewelry, ornaments, or anything handmade.  Call or stop by the store for more details.  Tables are $10 for an 8 footer. You supply the electrical cords if needed but power is supplied.  We have a few spots left if you are interested.

Want to SHOP handmade??  Stop by the store November 2nd from 10am to 4:30pm to shop the merchandise available from our crafty vendors.

From there you head to Rochester, MN to visit Rochester Scrapbooking Co to enjoy a dessert bar, make & takes and more shopping.  You'll then make your way back to Picture This around 6:30-7pm.  

$67 for a hassle free day of food, fun and shopping!

Cancer Crop

Here are some goodies from the Cancer Crop held at Picture This on Saturday, September 28.  Each paid registrant got a box of goodies and of course, there were treats galore!!

The SILENT AUCTION is still up for bidding in the classroom through Saturday October 5.  We have the Open House at Green Haven Retreat on October 1 from 5-8 pm and it is World Card Making Day on the 5th so you have plenty of opportunities to bid on some fabulous things that have been generously donated to our cause.  All proceeds from the Crop and the Silent Auction will go to a local Cancer Clinic in Eau Claire.

Don't forget about the Fall Bus Trip too.  That fun trip is on October 12.  Stop by the store for details and to sign up.  $67 for a day of fun, shopping and food.  Or call 715-830-9555.

Scrapbooking and Alzheimer's

Did you know that September is World Alzheimer's Awareness Month? 

Did you know that scrapbooking is used with patients to help remember past events in their lives, people from their past and present and to assist the care givers with info into the patients lives as a means to communicate with the patient, to understand where they are coming from?

Photographs from the past allow patients to reminisce about pleasant times in their lives. Photographs from the present help patients relate to their current situation. The patient experiencing memory loss is able to remember or recognize someone they love and know in a world where so many things are now unfamiliar to them.

With assistance, patients with Alzheimer’s disease can create scrapbook photo albums. Creating an album is a meaningful activity. The patients identified each other, had a starting point for further discussion, and generally found the albums relaxing.  Some Alzheimer’s patients use a camera and journal to chronicle and remember events. This activity helped those patients track and review their daily lives.

Studies have shown that scrapbook photo albums can be an important part of a patients therapy. In doing so, they will preserve the past, enrich the present and inspire hope for the future.

Green Haven Retreat and Picture This

On September 1, Green Haven Retreat became part of Picture This.  The joining of these two businesses is a perfect match and will give Picture This opportunities to do larger events and much more.

For those of you who don't know about Green Haven Retreat, here are a few facts:

Green Haven Retreat was built with the crafter in mind.

Everything is on one floor with a place to create, places to relax and eat, and a place to sleep.

The building is located right behind Picture this.

The retreat can accommodate 16 people in 4 separate bedrooms with 4 single beds in each room (no bunks) and a bathroom in each room. 

The craft room seats 16 people with a 6 foot table and adjustable chair for each guest.  

The dining room seats all 16 guests.

The craft room is on the opposite end of the sleeping area for those late night crafting sessions.

Christmas Extravaganza

Are you ready for Christmas?  The gang at Picture This has been busy working some Christmas magic creating new cards and gift ideas for you and we will be ready to reveal our projects on September 21.  Attendees can come and go when convenient for you and you can work at your own pace on the Make & Takes. There will be kits of other projects available for sale as well. This is a great way to get inspired for the Holidays that will be here before we know it. Cost: $25 September 21, 2013 11am to 3pm

Kitties!

Meet Cassie and Bernie.  They are the current residents at Picture This from the Eau Claire County Humane Association.  Did you know we are an off-site adoption location for the ECCHA? We have had a cat(s) /kitten(s) in residence at the store since February and we have had a hand in adopting out 10 purrfect kitties to loving furever homes so far.  We have a FACEBOOK page set up for all updates on the adopted critters.  Keep up with the kitty news by liking the FACEBOOK page.

Update:  Cassie goes to here furever home today!  

Bernie, our sweet little tiger, is still up for adoption though.  

Project Life

For those who like the idea of the Project Life style of scrapbooking, here is a bunch of different products to accomplish that look with things we have available in the store. 

  I walked around to find those little card style papers and this whole set of photos are things we have just in the first row at the store......just think of how much more we have!!

 Of course, you can scrapbook however you like with these materials. That is the beauty of scrapbooking.  It is your project and you do it YOUR way!
